Étude sur la participation scolaire des parents (PSParents)

This study is conducted by Catherine Ratelle, Stéphane Duchesne, André Plamondon and Julien Bureau, researchers at the Education Faculty at Université Laval and by Isabelle Archambault from the School of Psychoeducation at Université de Montréal.

The main objective of this study is to better understand parents' school involvement (e.g. governing board, PPO) and its effects on elementary school students' school life and academic success.

This project is funded by the Concerted Action on Academic Persistence and success from the Fonds québécois de recherche - Société et culture (FQRSC; progrmame d'Action concertée sur la persévérance et la réussite scolaire).

Specifically, this study has three objectives:

The first objective is to examine the perspective of parents involved in their child's elementary school governing board.

The second objective is to provide a representative profile of parents involved in these committees.

The third objective is to identify the factors linked to the decision to become involved or not in these committees and to identify the barriers to this involvement.
